Maruti Suzuki India Limited, normally called to as Maruti and formerly known as Maruti Udyog Limited, is an automobile developer in India. It is a subsidiary company of Japanese automobile and motorcycle manufacturer Suzuki. Maruti had sold a complete range of cars from the entry level Maruti 800 (discontinued), Alto, to the hatchback Ritz, Celerio, A-Star, Swift, Wagon R, Zen and sedans DZire, Ciaz, Kizashi and SX4, in the ‘C’ segment Eeco, Omni, Multi Purpose vehicle Suzuki Ertiga and Sports Utility vehicle Grand Vitara. As we have discussed with our earlier post regarding Diesel model of Maruti Suzuki Celerio. Now a little more details regarding the Diesel Model of Maruti Celerio.
Maruti Suzuki Celerio Diesel
Maruti car manufacturing Company has been completely working on many new cars for a launch in near future and one of the upcoming Maruti cars in 2015 is the highly awaited diesel variant of the popular Celerio hatchback. If the latest reports are anything to go by, the Maruti Suzuki Celerio Diesel launch is just around the corner. It may be noted that the Celerio has been successful in establishing itself in the highly competent small car market of our country and the addition of the diesel engine is sure to give this car’s sales performance a shot in the arm. The diesel engine that will power the Celerio will be also seen on Maruti’s upcoming LCV. The upcoming Y9T LCV will go up against the likes of the Tata Ace and the Mahindra Maxximo. In future, this engine could also end up under the hood of other Maruti small cars such as the Alto and the WagonR.
The diesel engine is obviously very loud, since it is still being developed. Visually, the Celerio Diesel will not look any different from the petrol/CNG variants of the car, except for the badges. We expect Maruti to provide less equipment in the diesel variants than the similar petrol variants to keep the price of the cars competitive.
The biggest news though is the 2-cylinder, 793cc turbocharged diesel engine which will be powering the car. This engine is said to produce about 38 BHP of maximum power. The torque figures have not been leaked though, and this is where the diesel engine is expected to triumph, helping the Celerio to be a good city car. Efficiency figures of the car have also been leaked and the Celerio diesel could return an amazing 30.1 km/pl under test conditions!
Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. has always made it a point to price its cars ultra competitively and in all probability, the Celerio won’t be any different in this aspect. We expect the entry-level diesel variant of the car to be priced around INR 4 Lakh figure. If rumors are to be believed, the Celerio diesel could become the most fuel efficient car to be sold in India, with a fuel mileage of 30.1 km/pl.
