The car also comes with airbags for safety purposes. There is a cross member in the rear which can protect the passengers in case of impact from the back. Some of the other safety features included in the car are central locking, remote door locking system, etc. Some luxurious features available in this variant include Driver Information System, electronic steering, etc. The sedan is really urban looking. The car is quite spacious- with enough space for at least 6 grown people to sit comfortably. The central facade of the car has undergone some change, for it now comes in molded black as well. The instrument panel comes with increased storage space and an attached central console. The car’s interiors come with the basic trim, but one can purchase extras if they are interested. The interiors of the car also includes ashtrays and bottle holders on all the four doors (this option might be available only in the higher end version). The interiors of the Verito are upholstered with dual toned leather (one will be able to change the upholstery later, if they are not fine with the options that they get from the manufacturer).

Mahindra Verito is one of the most economical sedan series in the Indian car bazaar. At present, the car maker is selling it in quite a few variants, which has a few exclusive features. These aspects include touchscreen navigation system along with voice alerts, an advanced 2-DIN music system that supports Bluetooth connectivity, CD/MP3 player, USB slot and Aux-in port. Its internal cabin is designed with Italian leather upholstery, matching vinyl door trims, floor mats and a leather wrapped steering wheel. Apart from these, the exteriors are designed with stylish body decals, executive badging at rear and Blue vision headlamps. It is incorporated with well cushioned seats, which are covered with fabric upholstery. Apart from these, it has quite a lot of standard features that gives a comfortable driving experience. Some of these include an efficient air conditioning unit, a driver information system with lots of functions, power steering, remote boot opener and all four power windows. The updated two-tone dash looks richer and the ergonomics have been improved drastically.

The window switches are moved from the center console to the door pads. The car comes packed with features. Here are some of the features that you will get with the executive variant of the car- power windows, driver lumbar support, single disc CD player, dual zone climate control, front fog lamps, trunk lights, rear defogger, rear head restraints etc. The old single-DIN music system has been replaced by the two-DIN unit from the Xylo, and gets modern features like Aux-in and USB ports. Even the AC controls are new and more modern looking. Space and practicality, the Verito’s trump card, still remain and at this price and size, it doesn’t get any bigger. There is lots of space up front and even six-foot-plus people will fit comfortably. The driver’s seat, however, doesn’t get height or steering adjustment, so you have to live with the high driving position. The rear bench is very comfortable and, thanks to the car’s width, sitting three abreast is not an issue. You won’t complain about the large boot either.

In terms of exteriors, it comes with a unique body design featuring some rugged cosmetics, especially on its front and rear profile. The front facade has a masculine radiator grille fitted with a pair of thick chrome plated bezels, a body colored bumper with a large air dam and many other such aspects that gives a distinct look to the frontage. This sedan comes with a mix of innovative safety and luxurious comfort features, which makes it an ideal option for the budget car buyers. The Verito (formerly Logan) still looks boxy, but thanks to the redesigned front and rear, it has a softer edge. The front, now with multi-element headlamps and a Skoda-like chrome grille, lends the Verito a more upmarket look. The car has gone through some changes in the exteriors. The new variant of the car attempts to attract the corporate executives, so the car’s exterior designs have been modified for that purpose. The front portion of the car is quite attractive looking- it comes with a radiator grille that is chrome plated, vertical slats and eyebrow shaped head lamps.

The headlamps give the car a really mean look from the front. The front bumper is body colored and so are the outside rear view mirrors. The new bumper with its large front air dam looks aggressive and the overall effect is quite positive. The new tail-lamps and the rear bumper reduce the visual bulk and the crisp creases that run from the bootlid and merge with the tail-lights add to the appeal too. The body side molding, the alloy wheels, side cladding, side turn indicators, etc. provide the car with an attractive look. The boot lid of the car is quite curvy as well. The roof rails of the car are also really sporty. There are distinguished lines on either side of the car that run along the whole length. These lines give the car a rather sophisticated look.

Handling

Mahindra Verito continues to ride on weedy tyres, that doesn’t make it a dud dynamically. Throwing the Verito unrealistically hard into corners does result in the tyres fighting for grip, but it isn’t half as bad as you may imagine from such slim rubber. Even the electric power steering has been reworked to be more accurate and is now more realistically weighted. However, it does feel inert, and the feedback from the front tyres is very limited. At expressway speeds, the Verito shows rather noteworthy composure, even when suddenly confronted by a rough patch. It’s the improvements underneath that contribute to this.

Verito has beefed up the front anti-roll bar by 2-3mm and the stiffer suspension helps in keeping spring rebound in check. Conversely, at low speeds, the ride isn’t exactly plush and sharper edges thump into the cabin quite easily. Mahindra’s attempt to eliminate the issue of scraping over speed breakers has been largely successful, but we did see the underbody scrape over one large speed breaker.

Performance

The cosmetic appearance of the Verito Electric is as same as the Verito petrol, but mechanically it has new 39 bhp AC motor that can run up to 100 kilometers in one charge. Moreover, the car gets fully charged in 6 hours. This Eco-friendly car offers a silent and emission free ride and the efficient motor allows it to attain top speed of 86 km/h. The Executive edition of the car is available in two engine types- the 1.4 L and the 1.5 L. The 1.4 L variant comes in three models, and is mated with a manual transmission gearbox. The car provides for amazing performance- delivering a maximum torque of 110 Nm and maximum power of 75 bhp. The 1.5 L diesel variant comes with mated with a 5 speed manual transmission gearbox as well. It is equipped with a 1.5-litre dCi diesel power plant that can displace 1461cc. This mill has the ability to produce a maximum power of 65bhp, while generating a peak torque output of 160Nm, which is rather good. Its braking and suspension mechanism are quite proficient. The braking mechanism of top end and ‘Executive Edition’ variants are further augmented by anti lock braking system along with electronic brake force distribution. As the updated Verito is more or less the same under the skin, it feels similar to drive. The saloon comes with 1.4-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engine options.

The suspension has been raised slightly and it feels more pliant, and bump absorption is much better. It works more silently too. But its softer setup means some of the agility from the earlier car is now lost; the lighter steering only adding to this. This means there is no hesitation at low revs and driving it in traffic is very easy. The once jerky and slightly heavy clutch now feels much lighter and more progressive, and the engine feels smoother and better insulated. But, once past 3500rpm, the power tapers off and it’s best to shift up a gear and stay in the power band. And this is still one of the most efficient engines around too. We drove the D6 variant, which is powered by the same 65bhp 1461cc dCi motor as the earlier version. The interiors have been done up pretty well with a dual tone color scheme. The manufacturer has built it with a large wheelbase of 2630mm that made it possible to create enough leg space in the front and rear cabin. This engine is capable of delivering 65 bhp of power and 160 Nm of torque.
